BRUSSELS - The number of night shops is mushrooming in Brussels at a rate of five percent every year, it was reported on Monday.
The latest figures come from the consultancy "Food in Mind", which also reports that sales at service stations has risen by ten percent and machine sales by five percent.
More and more, people are able to buy what they want whenever they want, says the study.
Traditional shopping at the grocers or supermarket still takes up 65 percent of the market but this is set to decline over the next ten years, according to the survey.
The food sector only accounts for part of Belgium's nocturnal economy, with clubs and leisure activities making a significant contribution.
