BRUSSELS — The AIDS and sexually transmitted disease (STD) telephone information line expanded its services on Wednesday to also answer questions over safe sex.

Research conducted by the Centre for General Social Work indicated there was a need for accessible, basic information about contraception and undesired pregnancies.

The target group of the Safe Sex Line is young adults aged between 18 and 30. They are considered the biggest risk group.

The Safe Sex Line can be contacted on 078 15 15 15. Callers can contact the service anonymously.

The new telephone information service was launched on Wednesday 21 June. It remains primarily an information line and is not an assistance service.

The AIDS line was set up in 1985 and changed its name and focus in 2002 to answer questions both about AIDS and STDs.
