BRUSSELS — The evidence reportedly continues to mount against Abdallah Ait Oud, the suspect in the murder of step-sisters Stacy and Nathalie.
New results from various forensics tests — which authorities are gaining bit by bit — reportedly indicate with almost 100 percent certainty that Ait Oud is the culprit.
The nature of the evidence is not yet known, but Ait Oud is said to have softened up since being confronted with the new evidence, newspaper 'Het Belang van Limburg' reported on Thursday.
Ait Oud will appear in court again on 1 September, at which time the court will rule over his continued remand.
Liège step-sisters Stacy and Nathalie disappeared from a city street party on the night of 9 June and their bodies were found dumped in a storm water drain on 28 June.
Both girls were strangled and Nathalie was also sexually abused.
Ait Oud — a convicted child sex offender — has been in police custody since 12 June, but has repeatedly denied any involvement in the deaths of the two girls.
