BRUSSELS — Polish youth Adam G. has reportedly confessed to stabbing Joe Van Holsbeeck on 12 April at Brussels Central station, but did not want to kill him.

The main suspect in the mp3 murder reportedly explained to federal police last week that he stabbed Joe to defend himself.

According to Adam, Joe and his friend held him tight and to get free he wounded him, without wanting to kill anyone, newspaper Le Soir reported on Thursday.

Up until now, Adam had claimed he could not remember anything of the incident and had taken drugs prior to the stabbing.

The new statement contradicts those from witnesses who have said Joe, 17, remained sitting during the attack.

Adam G. also claims that the other suspect, Polish youth, Mariusz O., initiated the attack.

Joe was stabbed after he refused to hand over his mp3 to his assailants and his death sparked a mass anti-violence march in Brussels with 80,000 participants.
