Wild boars are causing havoc on Bruges motorway

10 January 2008 - Earlier this week a motorist in the Bruges area had the surprise of his life. He crashed into a group of wild boars on the motorway.
Luckily he was driving in a big car and didn’t get injured.

The boars were less fortunate.

The Flemish Environment Minister Hilde Crevits (Flemish Christian democrat) now wants to examine whether fences along the motorway could help.

There are some 200 wild boars in the Bruges area. There are also concerns that they could trigger an outbreak of swine fever.
