BRUSSELS — Motorists were warned to expect slippery roads on Thursday night despite a forecast clearing of wintry storms.

The warning comes after massive problems were reported on Belgian roads on Thursday morning as snow led to slippery and dangerous conditions.

Motorists in Wallonia especially encountered difficulties as various accidents were reported. There were also reports of trucks being unable to travel up inclines.

An accident with three cars and delivery van took place on the E411 at Léglise in the direction of Groot-Hertogdom Luxemburg at about 8am.

No one was injured in the accident, however, which was blamed on heavy snowfalls.

Motorists were warned to expect slippery roads throughout the day and on Thursday night due local wintry storms.

However, the weather may start to clear overnight and the strong wind gusts will decline.

There is still a chance of snowfalls in the east of the country on Friday morning. Elsewhere it will remain dry, but overcast.
