BRUSSELS - Police in Brussels have recovered an 11-year old girl who had gone missing some 20 hours before.

The girl had cycled all the way from her family home in Willebroek in Antwerp province to relatives in Brussels.

The 11-year-old had left home on Friday without telling her parents where she was going. She spent the night at a friend’s.

The following day, she jumped on her bike and cycled on, leaving every one in the dark on her whereabouts.

Following the family’s alert, the police and the missing children’s organisation set up a search. Around 8.30 pm on Sunday, news came that the girl had been found with relatives in Brussels.

The girl has been returned to her parents in Willebroek.
