BRUSSELS — All taxpayers will receive their tax assessment for 2004 by the end of June this year, Finance Minister Didier Reynders said.
Problems with the processing of the tax returns have led to uncertainty in recent weeks as to when the federal tax office will complete its assessments.
The treasury only started sending the first assessments out in January, several months behind schedule.
Problems have been reported with the calculation programme used by the treasury's new electronic tax form, Tax-on-Web.
Scanning problems were also encountered. Some 700,000 tax forms were incorrectly completed, which meant the forms could not be scanned in.
It also took some time before the computer program could send the scanned documents through to the government's various tax offices.
