BRUSSELS – The Flemish Opera is advertising its new production “Siegfried” with a remarkable poster; a photo of a threatening Seung-Hui Cho, the South Korean student who shot dead 32 of his fellow American students on the Virginia Tech University campus in April this year.

In Antwerp, where the trial of Van Themsche has just ended, there was an indignant reaction to the campaign. "Decency threshholds have clearly been crossed by this poster. It is absolutely tasteless" says Kris Luyckx, the lawyer who represented the family of Oulematou Niangadou in the court case.

Controversy also rages in Ghent. The advertising company Clear Channel is refusing to put up the posters until further notice.
