BRUSSELS — The Journalistic Council rejected on Thursday a complaint from Liberal VLD MP Rik Daems, who had lodged a complaint against the weekly magazine 'Dag Allemaal'.

The council said there was no indication the weekly had placed Daems under pressure to give an interview about his private life.

Family man Daems made headlines in January this year due to his divorce and an affair with Socialist PS MP Sophie Pécriaux, who is pregnant with Daems' baby.

Daems had conducted an interview shortly before the revelations surfaced.

He admitted his divorce, but not the affair to the weekly, but the affair was later made public by newspaper 'Le Soir'.

Daems and his spokesman lodged a complaint, claiming Dag Allemaal had placed him under pressure to reveal his private life.

The journalistic council rejected the claim on Thursday.
