BRUSSELS - Women's world number one Justine Henin is set to announce her retirement from tennis, Belgian media reported Wednesday.

Het Nieuwsblad reported that the 25-year-old is expected to announce her retirement later in the day, with a press conference scheduled for 1300 GMT.

Other media reports say Henin may announce a break from the game of several months.

Henin withdrew from this week's Italian Open, citing fatigue.

Last week after elimination in the last 16 of the German Open in Berlin, she spoke of possibly ending her tennis career in the near future.

Henin is the winner of seven Grand Slam titles, but the year has been disappointing so far, with defeats at the quarter-final stages of the Australian Open and in Miami.

In Berlin, she said she was now at a phase of her life in which she was thinking more about her future after tennis.
