Jeweller perishes in armed raid in Brussels

A jeweller has been killed after his shop in the Matongé district of Elsene/Ixelles was raided by armed gangsters. Two people were injured in the attack.

A jeweller's on the Chaussée de Wavre, near Namur Gate/Porte de Namur was the target of the armed raid. The alarm was raised and the police cordoned off the entire area.

Police then launched a manhunt using a helicopter.

Two suspects were detained in the neighbourhood. One of the gangsters was shot and injuredand had to be taken to hospital.
