BRUSSELS — Meteorological bureau RMI has forecast five 'tropical' days for this week, triggering the federal government's heatwave emergency plan.

The heatwave plan was also triggered two weeks ago in the summer's second heatwave.

The Health Ministry will dispatch recommendations to hospitals and retirement and nursing homes, news service VRT reported on Monday.

The public is urged to drink sufficient liquid (at least 1.5lr of water a day) and is advised against undertaking heavy physical activities during the hottest part of the day.

No ozone warning has been issued, but taking precautions against the warm weather is recommended.

Temperatures are forecast to soar above 30 degrees this week, with Wednesday expected to be the hottest day.
