The brother of former French justice minister Rachida Dati was jailed for five months and handed a 5,500-euro fine Friday as a Belgian court convicted him on drugs charges.

Jamal Dati, 38, was given an eight-month sentence with three suspended, and also saw impounded the car he was in when caught with 30 grammes of heroin and five grammes of marijuana.

He was previously given a one-year sentence in France in August 2007 for drug dealing.
