BRUSSELS — Four people were killed and a fifth was seriously injured in a car accident at 5.10am on Wednesday.
The accident took place on the N57 at Le Roeulx on the La Louvière-bound lanes, the fire brigade said.
Two vehicles were involved in the collision, news agency Belga reported.
The cause of the accident is not yet known, but the accident occurred as one vehicle exited a roundabout and the other vehicle entered it.
The force of the collision was so severe that the front of one of the cars was completely crushed.
Rescuers could not even determine the model of the second car.
The road was closed for several hours after the accident.
Public prosecution officers are investigating the circumstances of the tragedy.
