ANTWERP - The regional association representing employers in Flanders has called for a two-year industrial wage freeze, includuing the suspension of inflation-linked payments.

The VEV has won support for the move from the national Belgian employers' federation, the VBO.

Trades unions reacted angrily to the proposition, and warned that suspending inflation indexed pay increases was unacceptable.
