Five scenarios to secure the palace of justice in Brussels
After the breakout from the palace of justice by three prisoners on Tuesday the minister for justice, Stefaan de Clerck, requested that a report be made to assess the lack of security in the large building.
The study has calculated five possible security measures to protect the law courts. Relocating to a new building is the only ideal solution but this would only help in the long run.
The report has imagined five scenarios, said the VTM. The first of which are alarm buttons and the installation of security cameras. This could be achieved in the short term.
Three scenarios ask for a new cell network: in the new garage, in the restaurant or even a new security area, joining the council chambers and the cells of the accused.
However, the most effective solution, says the report, would be to move the law courts to a smaller and more secure building.
