BRUSSELS – Ecuador's government plans to address the Belgian authorities on the poor treatment suffered in Belgium by Ecuador national Ana Cajamarca and her 11-year-old daughter Angelica.

The Ecuadorian ministry of foreign affairs says it will make a further announcement today of how it plans to address the issue, the ministry reports.

The Ecuadorian ministry of foreign affairs wants to make it clear that the "poor physical and psychological treatment of our citizens is unacceptable and in violation of international human rights accords."

The Ecuadorian government had already expressed its displeasure last week at the conditions under which the two people were being held.
