Dries Van Noten best international designer
The Flemish fashion designer calls the American prize, "An unexpected cherry on the cake."
The Antwerp fashion designer Dries Van Noten has won the international prize of the Council of Fashion Designers of America. The Council is the professional association of American fashion designers.
The chairwoman of the Council is the Belgian/American Diane von Furstenberg.
She was very enthusiastic about the American honour for a Belgian.
Francisco Costa, designer for Calvin Klein, also had nothing but praise for Dries Van Noten. "He gives an added value to this award," he says.
The Flemish fashion designer himself calls the American prize, "An unexpected cherry on the cake." Dries Van Noten is internationally renowned and does well on the catwalks of Paris. The prize will boost his reputation in the United States as well.
Dries Van Noten will receive his prize 2 June in New York.
Olivier Theyskens won the award two years ago
Two years ago another Belgian designer, Olivier Theyskens, also won the international prize of the Council of Fashion Designers of America.
