BRUSSELS - The so-called digital divide, the gap between people who have access to advanced new technologies like the internet and those who do not, is widening in Belgium, it was reported on Tuesday.

Financial newspaper L'Echo reported that although 51 percent of Belgians have a computer only 36.4 percent of households have internet access.

And just a third of Blegians use the internet every day compared with 53 percent of Dutch people, the report added.

The newspaper also said women are less likely to have access to new technologies than men.
