In Yemen six terrorists have been sentenced to death for a series of atrocities. In one of the outrages two Belgian tourists died.

Ten other defendants received custodial sentences of up to 15 years.

The defendants include several Yemeni nationals, a Saudi and four Syrians.

Two Belgian women were killed in one of the attacks, a woman from Bruges (West Flanders) and a second Belgian woman from East Flanders province.

Together with a group of Belgians they were on an excursion to the Hadhramaut region of eastern Yemen.

During the outrage the group came under fire. A Belgian man was injured, but survived the attack.
