TONGEREN – The court in chambers in Tongeren has decided that the case of a fight that ended fatally for a would-be robber in Maasmechelen last year must be heard by the court.

A Moroccan drug addict was caught by three youths while he broke into a home. One of the three pinned the man down and sat on him to keep hold of him until police arrived.

The man died of a heart attack, caused by a combination of factors, including stress and excessive drug use.

The officials now want to try the case in court. The defendants are appealing that decision.
