BRUSSELS - Belgian cyclist Frank Vandenbroucke has tried to commit suicide, the Gazzetta Dello Sport reports. He has been admitted to hospital in Italy.

Vandenbroucke (32) is reportedly in serious condition, but doctors do not want to make any announcements on how he is doing.

The Belgian man lives in Vermezzo, in the vicinity of Milan. He was a leading cycling talent but made it into the news more often because of his behaviour. He suffers from depression and has been accused of doping.
