BRUSSELS – Starting next year the Flemish government is going to fully compensate job seekers for the childcare and travel expenses they incur in order to pursue further education.

This is contained  in an "action plan for unemployment" that the Flemish government has approved. The plan is a proposal from the Flemish jobs agency VDAB.

Childcare for children up to 12 during hours when the job seeker is attending class or training will be compensated, as will travel costs to and from the school. Eligible individuals will be able to choose from compensation of EUR 0.15 per km or a transport pass.
