BRUSSELS — A busy weekend is being forecast on Belgian roads for the coming weekend.

Flemish motorists association VTB/VAB said Dutch and German holidaymakers will take to the road en masse this weekend.

Belgian day tourists are also expected to head to the coast or the Ardennes from Friday afternoon onwards.

The start of summer sales and the forecast good weather are also combining potentially to make the usual quiet first weekend in July a 'black' day on the nation's roads.

It is expected to be less busy on European roads.

The VAB said Flemish residents are not echoing the football fever being witnessed among Dutch nationals as initially hoped.

Just 6.5 percent are changing the plans to watch the semi-final and the final of the World Cup this weekend and next.

Most Flemish football-lovers are simply taking their TV along with them.
