BRUSSELS – Rents in Brussels have increased by over 25 percent in the past six years, it was reported on Wednesday.

Le Soir newspaper said that according to a study by experts at the Catholic University of Leuven, incomes in the city have not kept up with the rent rises making living in Brussels an increasingly difficult option for more and more people.

The study found that the average monthly rental price for an apartment in the Belgian capital is now EUR 482.

The city communes that have seen the biggest rent increases are Woluwe Saint Lambert, Woluwe Saint Pierre, Ganshoren, Etterbeek and Molenbeek.
