Bomb threat in Ghent

20 September 2007, GHENT – The old courthouse in Ghent was evacuated for about 90 minutes on Thursday morning after a bomb threat. The courthouse received a phone call at about 9.40 am from a French-speaking man who reported that there was a bomb in the building.

GHENT – The old courthouse in Ghent was evacuated for about 90 minutes on Thursday morning after a bomb threat.
The courthouse received a phone call at about 9.40 am from a French-speaking man who reported that there was a bomb in the building.

The building was cleared immediately, about 200 people were evacuated. 16 prisoners being kept in the basement of the building awaiting trial were transferred to other locations. Traffic was also diverted.

The police searched the whole building but found no explosives. The courthouse was reopened at about 11 am.
