BRUSSELS – The Gunther Von Hagens controversial body parts exhibition is back in Brussels after seven years.

Körperwelten 4 opens in the Kelders van Kuregem Exhibition Centre in the Brussels municipality of Anderlecht on Friday and displays body parts from 200 people. The exhibition will end 11 January 2009.

All the body parts have been treated with special chemicals and made to look life-life by injecting them with silicone.

Critics of Körperwelten say that the exhibition is tasteless and that dead body parts should not be put on display. Nevertheless, more than 500,000 people visited Körperwelten when it was in Brussels in 2001.

About 9,000 body donors worldwide have asked for their body parts to be used in the exhibition after their death. In Belgium, there are 40 such donors.
