In some places in the Ardennes there is enough snow to go cross-country skiing for the first time this year.

A blanket of snow fell during the night and morning making the roads dangerously slippery. In some places in the Ardennes there is enough snow to go cross-country skiing for the first time this year. According to the Belgian Royal Meteorological Institute there are 25 centimetres of snow in places.

In the south of Belgium the winter weather has been causing considerable traffic problems on the motorways and other roads.

Especially in the provinces of Liege, Luxembourg and Namur the situation is problematic. This morning only one lane was open on several roads, including the A13, A26 and A27.

The authorities warn of hazardous conditions on the roads in the south all day.

Cross-country ski tracks are open

In some places in the Ardennes there are up to 25 centimetres of snow.

The quality of the snow is reportedly very good for skiing. The cross-country tracks are open today.

It is uncertain how long the snow will stick.  It may be problematic on the roads, but the children are enjoying the fun in the snow ... while it lasts!
