Belgian woman abducted and freed in Kenya
A Belgian woman who was kidnapped in Kenya and held captive for a week has been freed, announced the federal prosecutioner on Thursday.
The Belgian national had lived in Kenya for 15 years. She was kidnapped on 19 September and has since been released by her abductors.
She is in good health but has suffered a huge and painful ordeal, said a federal spokesperson.
Federal prosecutors will give a press conference on Thursday morning to shed more light on this event. Nothing is yet known about the abductors’ motives.
The victim’s family live in Bruges.
