BRUSSELS – Police unions have threatened industrial action next week, it was reported on Thursday.

The unions are unhappy about new holiday pay terms proposed by Interior Minister Patrick Dewael.

Unions want the same conditions offered to all police officers, including 1,000 non-operational workers, such as the reserve force.

Dewael made a fresh offer to officers on Wednesday morning, but unionists said it only offered a short-term rise for non-operational workers.

The unions are to meet early next week to consider the type of industrial action they should take. They warned action could follow later next week.
