Belgian experiments in outer space
SOLAR platform contains three experiments, 2 of which were developed in Belgium.
Two astronauts from the space shuttle Atlantis have attached the European SOLAR platform to the International Space Station (ISS). Solar contains three experiments, 2 of which were developed in Belgium.
2 astronauts carefully transferred Solar from the shuttle, installing it to porch-like carriers on the outboard edge of the Columbus module of the International Space Station.
There is a copy of Solar in Ukkel (Uccle) in Brussels in the control centre. It is a platform with experiments aimed more knowledge about the sun.
The experiments will tell us more about the influence of the sun on weather and climate changes. The results of the experiments will be studied in Ukkel.
