BELGIUM - The Flemish local transport company De Lijn is launching a pilot project that will allow cyclists to take their bike on the bus.

Nearly 140 buses have been equipped to take bikes. Bikes can easily be loaded on the buses and there are belts to secure the cycles.

A special panel will carry out tests and try and find out whether cyclists and other passengers are happy with the new procedure.

De Lijn has yet to announce the cost of a ticket for a bike. A maximum of two bikes will be allowed on participating buses.
