Belgian aid worker killed in Honduras

HONDURAS -- Thorsten Zwaenepoel, a 24-year-old aid worker from Zarren has been killed in Honduras.
The Belgian had finished his studies in criminology here earlier in 2008 and wanted to spend a year in Latin America, before starting to work.
He travelled to Honduras with his girlfriend to work as volunteers. They took part in a project to help street kids.
The murder took place when the West Fleming was trekking along the border between Honduras and Guatemala, without his partner. He is said to have been shot once in the head and twice in the chest.
It is not known why he was shot, but according to initial reports, his assassination was the result of a plot against him.
