BRUSSELS - The results of the autopsy carried out on the body of little Mégane almost certainly conclude that her death was an accident. This has been reported today by the public prosecution department in Dinant.

"The examination of the body shows that death was caused by drowning. The pathologist has found no signs of strangulation.

The wound on the girl’s neck is superficial and was undoubtedly caused by a branch or some obstacle in the water. Our conclusion is almost certainly that her death was an accident.” says public prosecution officer Herbay.

Six-year old Mégane was found dead in the river Lesse about 250 metres from the family home. She had gone missing in the afternoon.
