Asylum crisis in Belgium

In response to the Belgian asylum crisis, new legislation makes it more difficult to acquire a Belgian nationality.

When the outgoing administration took over in December of 2011 Belgium faced an asylum crisis.

The country's reception centres could not cope with the number of asylum seekers that were arriving in Belgium.
