BRUSSELS — An all-Belgian semi-final will be played at the French Open in Paris on Thursday.

Flanders' Kim Clijsters and the tournament second seed qualified for the Roland-Garros semi-final after dispatching Switzerland's Martina Hingis in straight sets 7-6 (7/5), 6-1.

Wallonia's Justine Henin-Hardenne will be her opponent, after the 5th seed defeated German Anna-Lena Grönefeld 7-5, 6-2 also on Tuesday.

The two Belgian tennis stars have played each other 19 times in the past. Clijsters has the upper hand, having won 10 of their encounters.

Their last eight encounters against each other have been finals.

Henin-Hardenne and Clijsters last met on clay in the 2003 French Open final when Henin-Hardenne emerged victorious 6-0 6-4 for her first Grand Slam win.

The winner of Thursday's clash will play the final on Saturday against the victor of the other semi-final, involving the Czech Republic's Nicole Vaidisova and Russia's Svetlana Kuznetsova.
