Newly merged brewing giant Anheuser-Busch InBev said on Monday it expected to raise 6.36 billion euros (8.03 billion dollars) by issuing new shares.
The Belgium-based company, which owns such brands as Budweiser, Stella
Artois and Beck's, said that the rights issue would help finance InBev's 52
billion dollar (41 billion euro) takeover of Anheuser-Busch.
InBev closed its takeover of Anheuser-Busch last Tuesday, ending Anheuser's
roughly 150 years of independence as a premier American brewer while creating
the world's largest beer company.
Shares in AB InBev were showing a loss of 2.67 percent at 20.05 euros
in mid-morning trading in Brussels amid a broadly higher market.
