BRUSSELS — Brussels justice authorities claim to have busted an important drug smuggling line between Belgium and Morocco.
Federal police arrested five suspects in Brussels and found 180kg of hash in a truck, news agency Belga reported on Thursday night.
Three suspects have also been arrested in Morocco and the alleged leader of the drugs gang was detained in the Netherlands.
A large sum of money was seized at the time of the suspect's arrest in the Netherlands.
Raids in Belgium were carried out in Sint-Gillis, Boom and Brussels.
The Brussels judiciary received support from Antwerp colleagues, federal police, a sniffer dog police officer and police officers from various zones.
Two of the Belgian suspects have been described as brothers aged 22 and 29.
