BRUSSELS -  Cercle is the last to place for the next round in the Belgian Cup. After 21 minutes Tom De Sutter had scored 4 times at the away match against KV Mechelen. The final score was 2-4. KV Mechelen is the fifth first division club to be eliminated.

Despite the déjà vu thrashing, KV Mechelen did not throw in the towel. Cercle played with less effort and the home team took advantage. Kristof Imschoot scored during minute 32 and Björn Vleminckx in the 37th minute.

After half-time the home team were out to score 2 more goals. But Cercle Brugge stood their ground. Still, as extraordinary as the first half was, the exciting moments in the second half could be counted on one hand. Aloys Nong had the best chance, but the score remained 2-4.

Cercle trainer De Boeck "I got angry"
The trainer of Cercle Brugge, Glen De Boeck, was not happy with the way his team let KVM get back into play.

"We played so well for the first 22 minutes and then we just gave it away! During half-time I had to get good and mad at the players.

In the end the trainer had to concede: "OK, for the second time this season we beat KV Mechelen, scoring 4 goals against them. As the trainer, I can hardly say that I am not happy with the final outcome!"

Tom De Sutter: "Four goals. I think this is the first time I've done this, maybe when I played as a kid. But I have to especially thank my team-mates for my goals."
