38 injured in school bus accident in Wallonia

Most of the victims sustained slight injuries after the bus slipped off the road and crashed into a tree.

WALLONIA – A bus accident full of school children took place near Waver (Walloon Brabant), injuring 38 passengers.

Most of the passengers sustained slight injuries. Only two people - the bus driver and one teenager - were reported to sustain from more severe injuries.

The accident took place on the N243 between Waver and Chaumont-Gistoux. A bus from the Walloon public transport company TEC slipped off the road and crashed into a tree.

The provincial disaster planned was called into effect immediately.

An emergency medial station was set up at the scene of the accident to administer first aid to the victims.

People who needed more attention were taken to hospitals in Leuven, Ottignies and Namur.

The accident has been causing considerable traffic chaos, also on the E411 motorway to Brussels.
