02/07/2008Naked cyclists spotted in Brussels

Dozens of cyclists pedalled around Brussels to protest against the increasing usage of cars in today's society.

BELGIUM - On June 21 2008, bystanders in Brussels were amazed at the appearance of dozens of naked and partially clothed cyclists riding around the city to protest against what they call 'car culture'.

The nude bike ride through Brussels is part of a worldwide campaign to protest about cars and traffic pollution.

The naked and partially clothed cyclists maintain that they are not exhibitionists but use their nudity to represent how vulnerable they feel as cyclists in urban centres.

The World Naked Bike Ride is now in its seventh year and holds 70 such events in 20 countries.
