Belgian postcards 15/06/2006 00:00

Spring in Belgium, a mid-winter market or a picturesque centuries-old castle; these are the latest addition to our series of readers' photos.

"I recently spent a week in Eastern Belgium, touring on my bicycle. Most pictures are from the Aubel area. There is one from Trois Ponts and also from the race circuit at Francorchamps."

"The Arenberg Castle in Heverlee. The first castle was built at this site in the 14th century. The family De Croy then took control of the land in 1446. In the years and centuries thereafter, the current-day castle was constructed in a traditional style with late-Gothic and Renaissance characteristics. It underwent large-scale renovations in the 19th century. The castle is now used by the sciences faculty of the Catholic University of Leuven."
