10/04/2009Julie Andrews invades Antwerp station

Commuters at the Belgian station were somewhat surprised when the announcer began singing, 'Let's start at the very beginning...'

You arrive at the station, at the same time you do every day, heading for another stint at the office or a difficult test at school.

But suddenly the announcements for arriving and departing trains are rudely interrupted. By Julie Andrews of all people, as she starts to sing, ‘Doe a deer, a female deer…’

Chocolates and beer may be good but Do Re Me is not the cup of tea of Belgians. It appears to be a joke or insult to original composition and why do they do like this? rather they should concentrate on something very original and not copying things !!

The Belgian train stations can use a little cheering up and this was a delightful, quirky little moment. Candy for the eyes and ears! I am Belgian and International and DO RE MI is just my cup of tea. We need more of this for all the crumpy people!

It was neither a joke nor an insult. If you watch it to the end it was promoting a new show to find 'Maria'. Anyone who can't smile at this needs a jaw operation.

I'm Belgian too and living abroad. It made me homesick! Not that the chance would have been great for me being there to see it. The song is indeed very well known in Belgium and a lot of people can sing a long with it. This should happen more often! People can you use suprises like this to brighten up their day.

Splendid! A similar thing was done at Liverpool Street recently. Anything to cheer up a dull day has to be good!

That's amazing! I wonder if anyone missed their train because of it... Totally worth it if they did though
