UK's Tax Teddy blogs about taxation in Belgium The Belgian tax system can be particularly beneficial to expats as multinational employees are exempt from income tax on earnings for days when they are not in Belgium.

The Belgian tax authorities have joined other government departments in a campaign to attract expats and international business.

The tax authorities are willing to work with investors to create tailored tax packages for business which could lower effective corporate tax rates to below 25 percent, particularly for innovative and environmentally friendly companies. Google has already set up an operation and other companies look set to follow.

The Belgian tax system can be particularly beneficial to expats as multinational employees are exempt from income tax on earnings for days when they are not in Belgium. This contrasts sharply with the UK where work abroad can only be taken out of the UK tax net in very limited circumstances.

The tax benefits are offered throughout all of Belgium but the Government is looking to particularly encourage relocation to Wallonia in the south.
