Hi Jean-Baptiste,
I am an Indonesian woman (26 years old) and I am in a relationship with a Belgian man. My boyfriend thinks about making proposition and takes me to Belgium but he feels it is bothering to come and do the proposition in a proper way according to Indonesian culture (my parents want it to be at least he comes and meets them while the most proper way is his parents come and do the proposition). Could you tell me how proposition is usually done in Belgian way?

Thank you.

Tessy.

Hi Jean-Baptiste,

I am a British woman in Belgium (mid thirties) and don’t seem to have any luck with Belgian men. I am wondering if it is the way I dress (I tend to be quite sporty and practical in my clothing) or if I simply don’t know how to pick up the signals. Or I’m not giving any. Can you advise?

Thanks for your advice.

Sara

Hi Gregory.
I am a UK citizen, was living in Brussels (17 years) and my company sent me as EXPAT to China and now Singapore (over 3 years). I am about to be made redundant - but the plan is to go back to Brussels for my last month of employment. Will being there for one month in anyway affect the amount of tax I have to pay on my redundancy? Should I request to stay here till my last day of employment on 30th June?
Thanks

In 1996 when I became US citizen I was told I had lost my Belgian citizenship. However, I just received a check from the Office National des Pensions based in Brussels. Am I still a Belgian citizen?

I was a Belgian citizen till I became a US citizen in 1995. I received a check from the Office National des Pensions in Brussels. By receiving this Belgian pension, is it going to alter my US social security Entitlement?

Dear Gregory,

I am registred since 2 years in Netherlands and legally working there, this year for 2 months I have been registred in Belgium (while still registered in NL), with intention to live in BE and work in NL. But from various reasons in the end my Dutch employer said it is not possible and I had to deregister in BE.
Last week I received income declaration in BE. What should I do? There is agreement between BE and NL, I pay taxes in Netherlands (where I work), why in BE they send too?

Hello,
I live and work and Brussels. My wife and i are both from AU. My special expat status was approved last year in December and that was before my wife got a job here. I applied for the tax status using title deeds of properties that are in my name. My wife does not have title deeds to prove that her economic interests are outside Belgium. Can she also use my expat status or does she have to apply separately? She does have bank accounts outside Belgium. Can she use this?
