BRUSSELS - The investigating magistrate in Doornik arrested a 34-year-old professional soldier for involuntary manslaughter and fleeing a crime scene.
Noël D., a soldier living in barracks in Doornik, caused a fatal accident in the submunicipality of Kain in Doornik late Friday night, early Saturday.
A 21-year-old woman walking on the footpath near the Chaussée d'Audenarde was killed in a hit-and-run accident. The driver confessed to the accident. He was under the influence of alcohol at the time.
