ANTWERP – Public transport company De Lijn will be starting a trial with sms tickets in Antwerp and Ghent in September.
De Lijn will be working with Finnish company Plusdial to implement the plan.
Plusdial has a great deal of experience introducing similar systems in Helsinki and a number of Swedish cities.
More than ten million tickets for tram, metro, train and bus have already been bought by sms text message in the Finnish capital since the system was introduced in 2002.
