The elder of the two brothers detained in connection with a stabbing incident has confessed to having stabbed the victim twice.
GHENT – The elder of the two brothers who was detained in connection with a stabbing incident in Ghent, has confessed to having stabbed the victim twice. Like the younger brother yesterday, the elder brother was sent the juvenile prison in Everberg today.
The younger brother has confirmed that he was present at the incident. Both brothers are being held in custody on suspicion of attempted murder. This was announced by the judicial authorities in Ghent this morning.
the younger brother was there when the elder brother stabbed the 14-year old Simon Wijffels after schoo. According to various witnesses, the victim had been bullied by the two brothers for some time. The apparaent motive for the stabbing was a conflict over a girl. The perpetrator wanted the victim to introduced him to the girl, but he refused.
The two Ukrainian boys will be temporarily detained on suspicion of attempted murder. This means that they are not only suspected of attempted murder but of premeditated murder. The knife that was thrown away after the stabbing had taken place has not yet been found.
The victim is in a critical but stable condition.
