Board withholds part of FN subsidy 25/01/2007 00:00
25 January 2007
BRUSSEL- The parliamentary and senate committee that monitors election expenditure voted unanimously on Thursday to withhold part of the Front National’s allocation for the time being.
The French-speaking Socialists have announced this.
The decision comes in response to an ongoing investigation into the president of the Front National and his life partner. There is confusion about their use of party funds and possible misuse of public goods (a loan that was given to his company Eurodim for the purchase of a villa in the south of France, high representation costs.)
The representatives and senators of the Francophone PS pointed out that all statutory conditions were fulfilled to withhold one twelfth of the campaign allotment from 2005. The subsidy that year came to 472,760 euro.
